There are a no. of places you should and MUST visit in Tokyo
Just take the JR Yamanote Line and you will be on the right track!
    - Shibuya: Look for the loyal dog statue outside the station and shop at 109!
    - Tokyo Tower: For the breathtaking scenes on top of the tower at night.
    - Roppongi : For the hip and trendy crowd who wants to take a look at the LV branch in Tokyo or visit a club
    - Asakusa : For the famous Asakusa Temple
    - Omotesando : For the chic coffee places
    - Shinjuku : For entertainment and shopping
    - Odaiba : Take the ferris wheel at night and see Tokyo Rainbow bridge! Very romantic for couples.
    - Akihabara : For all the gadget freaks
    - Harajuku: If you want to see the super-trendy/weirdly-dressed Japanese youth (whichever way you see it), Harajuku is the place to go.
    - Ginza : For all the branded-stuff fanatics
    - Ueno Park: Good if you go in April and there are cherry blossoms
