The no-fuss-no-frills method involves LTA randomly assigning a registration number to your vehicle at the point of registration. But if you desire a fanciful number that comes loaded with connotations of wealth, prosperity, luck and the works (how does 8888 sound to you?), you might want to consider bidding for a number.
Vehicle registration number bidding have to be made on forms which can be obtained from the LTA’s Vehicle & Transit Licensing Group (Information Counter, LTA, Level 1, 10 Sin Ming Drive, Singapore 575701).
The minimum bid amount is $1,000, and any bids above this amount has to be in multiples of $1 – meaning, don’t go submit a bid of $1000.02 for instance. Payment should be in the form of cashier’s order or money order, and made payable to the Land Transport Authority.
After you’ve completed the bidding form, enclose it within the envelope provided by the LTA, and deposit it into the tender box at the Registration Section, Land Transport Authority, Level 1, 10 Sin Ming Drive, before the closing date. Once submitted, the bid application may not be withdrawn or cancelled.
Do note that the rule is one application form per registration number. You’ll need separate applications if you are bidding for more than one number. |
