Finally, after securing your COE, getting motor insurance, and deciding whether or not to bid for a nice registration number, we are ready to apply for the registration and licensing of your car.

Here’s a step-by-step walkthrough:

    Things to Do and Bring Along
  • Complete the Application for Registration and Licensing of a Motor Vehicle form (Form R01).
  • Notification for successfully bid COE (issued by LTA as a TCOE)
  • Identification documents:
    • Original NRIC (for Singaporeans & Malaysians) or original passport (for foreigners)
    • If you’re registering your vehicle under a company, you’ll need to bring: (i) the original copy of the company or business profile issued by ACRA that is valid up to 14 days from the date of issue; and (ii) identification documents of the authorised person from the company (i.e. NRIC for Singaporeans / Malaysians, or passport for foreigners)
    • Original insurance cover note or certificate of insurance
    • Notification of PARF benefit / COE rebate (if any)
    • Notification letter for successfully bid / retained vehicle registration number (if any)
    • Import documentation (if you’re self importing a car)
     
    Fees payable are as follow. You can pay via cashier’s order, NETS or cash.
    • A processing fee of $25 per application
    • A registration fee of $140
    • The Additional Registration Fee (ARF) that is 110% of your vehicle’s OMV
    • Road Tax (The ONE.MOTORING Portal has a road-tax calculator)
    • A surcharge of $10,000 if you’re bringing in a used imported car

    If you’d rather not do the sums yourself, LTA has the Register New Vehicle (Enquiry) e-service that will compute fees payable after you input the necessary vehicle related information.

    After you’re done with registration, you’ll get the following:
    • Registration notification letter
    • Validated road tax disc
    • Official receipt
    • Supplementary licences (if you have registered under the Classic Car Scheme)
    Well, at this juncture, we are through with the buying and registration process. You’re now a proud car owner. Bring your new love onto the road and enjoy your ride.
